PBS.php: Personal Bibliographic Server

One of the important features of bibliographic protocol is that users can install and operate their own personal bibliographic servers to take precedence over all other bibliographic services. A personal bibliographic server can provide access to your own local reference collection and holdings, backed up by by library, publisher and global services.

PBS.php is the server software that we are designing to allow users to create and manage their own personal bibliographic server. To use it you must install a PHP-enabled web server on your own machine. We recommend Apache with mod_php under Linux.

Imporntant note: as of this moment (February 1, 2001), PBS.php is a concept only. In other words, it is vaporware.
